THAT ONE TIME I DECIDED TO GO ON A SIX WEEK TOUR…
MURDER PODCAST #1, my cross country signing tour, and why connection matters.
Where am I?
LA?
No…that’s not right.
Houston?
Nope. That was weeks ago, I think.
Greenville?
Yeah. That’s it. Greenville, South Carolina.
I’ve been at this for twenty seven days now. About as close to a whole month as you can get.
I’ve been on the road for the MURDER PODCAST KILLER SIGNING SPREE TOUR.
Sure— this tour is about promoting my new book from IGNITION PRESS. That’s part of the gig.
But the truth is, as I go, the most important thing is the connection with fans, shops, and friends along the way.
Let me tell you a little bit more about it—
THE TOURING FELLA AND THE STUFF
See that guy— all filled with hope and excitement?
That’s me.
About to head out on the MURDER PODCAST: KILLER SIGNING SPREE TOUR— a six week, eleven state trek to visit just a few of my favorite comic shops in the country.
Even with all those stops, I wasn’t able to make it to ALL of my favorite shops. There are just too many. But I tried to do the best I could and visit different spots along the way.
My studiomate Amber and I put together a goofy little animation for the tour.
It made me laugh.
For the tour, I (we at IGNITION) were offering three extra special items— a TOUR VARIANT, a SECRET VARIANT, and a tour shirt.
The MURDER PODCAST #1 tour variant is limited to ONLY signings along this tour and had a limited print run of 750 copies.
The MURDER PODCAST #1 SECRET VARIANT is an extra special, extra secret variant that you can ONLY get from me personally. It’s wrapped in brown paper, hand signed and numbered, limited to only 666 copies. I also did an ultra ULTRA limited remark of 66 copies, splattered with bloody red paint.
*NO ANIMALS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THE BLOOD SPLATTER REMARKS OF THE MURDER PODCAST #1 VARIANT. THE SAME CANNOT BE GUARANTEED FOR HUMANS.
The MURDER PODCAST TOUR SHIRT is an extra cool, limited edition IGNITION GOLD color way of the DEAD SOUNDS t-shirt we released back in the spring as part of the COLD OPEN Kickstarter.
THE LONG ROAD AND THE PEOPLE THAT MADE IT SPECIAL
This tour started in Portland at ROSE CITY COMIC CON, the weekend before MURDER PODCAST debuted on September 10th.
I had no idea what people were going to think of this comic that my creative partner, brilliant artist and amazing person, Mike Tisserand have worked so long and hard on.
I was a bundle of nerves, if I’m being honest.
I was leaving my family for well over a month— traveling the country mostly on my own. And while I like to travel, eat, drink, and explore, its just…a lot.
Luckily I had friends to help me kick things off.
Leah Williams, the absolutely fantastic creator of the newly released VOYEUR for IGNITION PRESS, my old pals Ande Parks and Phil Hester (who are both also joining us at IGNITION) and Dan Crary made RCCC something special.
It felt good introducing all of these amazingly talented people that I absolutely adore.
And the secret that I didn’t share— them being there made me feel like all of this was going to be okay.
Over the past twenty seven days, I’ve visited Collectors Paradise in LA, Legend Comics & Coffee in Omaha, Samurai Comics in Phoenix, Bedrock City Comic Co in Houston, Impulse Creations in Tulsa, and Blackbird Comics and Coffeehouse in Maitland, Florida.

At every single stop along the way I got to spend time in the shops— talking with the owners, staff, and their customers.
I signed a mountain of MURDER PODCAST, talked about what we’re building with IGNITION, and just had an amazing time.
And that’s the point— the connection.
I’ve said it a lot that making comics can be lonely work. It’s a LOT of long long hours sitting alone in dimly lit rooms making things.
Getting to genuinely connect with people is such a fantastic balance to that.
I’m grateful for everyone who’s made time to welcome me to their shops, swung by signings, invited me out for a drink or a meal along the way.
I love this community.
I love getting to share the things I make with all of you.
SUCH A SELLOUT
You always hope your new comic sells out.
A bit of inside baseball— a LOT of times companies manufacture a sellout— only overprinting by just enough to cover damages.
It’s part of the marketing game.
It happens.
Since we’re trying to do things a bit differently at IGNITION PRESS, rather than manufacturing a sellout, we did what we THOUGHT was a genuinely healthy overprint. Enough to last a few weeks of solid reorders.
We were….wrong.
We sold out of that healthy overprint of MURDER PODCAST #1 at the distributor in…twenty-two hours.
To be clear, there are still copies of MURDER PODCAST out there. If you haven’t picked one up yet, please check with your local shop and see if you can get one.
And in the meantime, we’ve sent MURDER PODCAST back to print for another big reprint.
We THINK this one will last a while.
Probably?
Anyway— THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who ordered a copy of MURDER PODCAST #1.
Your support means the world to me.
Okay— that’s it for this one.
I’m meeting a horror writer buddy for dinner and drinks this evening and I could honestly use a nap.
I’ve still got three more stops left on the tour—
10.4.25 - Ultimate Comics - Cary, NC
10.8.25 - Third Eye Comics - Annapolis, MD
10.9.25 - 10.12.25 - New York Comic Con - New York, NY
ALSO…
We’ve added one more date.
Because I’m a glutton for punishment.
10.17.25 - 10.19.25 - BALTIMORE COMIC CON - Baltimore, MD
So if you’re in the area of any of these stops on the tour, come by, say hi, and get some cool cool stuff.
It’d be great to see you.
So yeah… about that nap…
I appreciate you all.
Until next time—
Cheers!

I love tours like this. The Stray Dogs and Curse Words tour were also super cool! Bummed I couldn’t make it! Great way to promote. Nothing beats face to face events!
